When Joyce Smith’s adopted son, John, falls through an icy Missouri lake, all hope seems lost as John lies lifeless. In the face of every bleak medical case history and dire scientific prediction, Joyce’s unwavering belief inspires her community to pray for John’s recovery.

CHURCH HISTORY—Also as part of the 75th Anniversary, we are interviewing some of our “older members” to share stories and events from the past. Anyone can share their “memories/stories”. We welcome any artifacts (pictures, news clippings, bulletins, etc.) for the new history booklet we are creating. These can also be placed in the box on the Narthex table or contact Ed Jarvis. What occurred at our church that was special to you? How has the church touched your life? What inspired you to remain as part of our church family?
CHRISTIAN BOOK CLUB will be at church on October 3, at 6:30 p.m. We are going to read Klem Watercrest, The Lighthouse Keeper and Seaside Journeys of Faith, both by Jay Diedreck, a former member of our church. The Lighthouse Keeper—Much of Port James has been untouched somehow from many of the hassles of our times. Klem Watercrest, the delightful yet aging lighthouse keeper and main character, brings insight to his wife, friends, and family, many times while tending to the community lighthouse. Be prepared to enjoy a delightful, religious, yet an adventuresome story of a Maine seaside village and its unforgettable residents. Seaside Journeys of Faith—This is a charming story about that fictitious and wonderful seaside community of Port James, Maine and her unforgettable characters. Commencing in 1880, author Jay Diedreck quickly transcends the reader to 1950, a mystical and enchanting time of triumphs and achievements as well as struggles for its residents of faith. Jay has brought to life much of that unique and wonderful 1950s flavor that some readers may personally recall from their childhood and younger book lovers will learn and discover.
FROM THE TRUSTEES—A reminder that the main parking lot will be closed for a time during the summer for repairing, re-sealing and re-stripping of the lot. The timing has not yet been determined, however, when it happens cones will be placed at the end of the driveway and we ask that you park in the Russell’s Ice Cream lot (in the first two rows closest to the church). Thank you to our Trustees for always helping our church!
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD—We are trying something new this year. We are collecting a list of items per month. You may see the list of items on the table in the Narthex. Each month there will be a different list of items. We appreciate all your on-going support to this program!
CREEKVIEW NURSING HOME—The nursing home has an update on the items that can be donated. The additional items that can be donated are: nail polish (bright colors or sparkles) and polish remover. Other items are also listed in the newsletter. Donna Evenson wishes to continue delivering donations to the nursing home. Your blessings, thoughtfulness and remembrances are very much appreciated by the folks at the home. The nursing home is in need of a VCR player.
